The intergeneric Hybrids of Cattleyas are popular and comes under 2 main categories:

a) Brassocattleya (Brassavola x Cattleya)
b) Brassolaeliocattleya (Brassavola x Laelia x Cattleya)

They are bold charactered flowersof Brassocattleya (Bc) are distinct from others and has a fimbriated labella which is inherited from Brassavola. Since the introduction of Bc's in the 1930's, Laelia was considered to the combination. This lead to the popular Brassolaeliocattleyas (Blc)
