MILTASSIA OLMEC  'Red Spot'

Miltassia is a bigeneric genus based on Miltonia and Brassia

Miltonias (Parent plant) are primarily from Brazil, while Miltoniopsis are from the cooler regions of Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Ecuador and Columbia.

Temperature: 20-31 Deg Cel during the Daytime and 14-25 Deg Cel during the Nighttime is tolerated well.

Light: Medium light, Indirect sunlight is the best. Avoid afternoon direct sunlight. Can be used in indoor and outdoor settings.

Humidity: 50% or higher. Spraying in the morning or the use of mist will help maintain the adequate humidity.

Water: Water before the medium is completely dry. Water deep and allow it to drain. Overwatering causes root rot and infection. Rain water or natural sources are recommended as the best.

Flowering: Cut the bloom spike when it has dried. It will not bloom again. Miltassia produces new shoots after blooming. A cooler period and less watering is helpful for blooming

Potting: Repotting yearly. Coconut husk or bark mix are ideal.

Fertilizer: Nitrogen: Phospherous: Pottassium (NPK)= 10:10:10 ideal mix if it is flowering or growing actively - monthly application adviced.
